My Soldier
He's a man in the army,
Sent somewhere new.
Two years he will serve,
Along side of you.
No armor, a shield, or sword,
Appeared so grand.
A black suit, a tie,
With a book in hand.
I've seen courage, hope, faith, and,
Adore his strength.
Though heartache and pain,
Have gone to great length.
Great distances he goes by,
Car, bike, and feet.
Weary by night,
The sun he greets.
He's blessed others near and far,
Showing the way.
A light to the world,
Shone every day.
Months have passed, soon he'll return,
Never the same.
Now he arrives with,
Honor in his name.
This long journey he has trod,
Comes to an end.
What i'd give to see,
My dear soldier friend.
